The short sketch...
Renovatus began as an idea, a dream, for a different kind of Church community.
In late summer 2006, Jonathan and Amanda Martin connected with about 40 other dreamers who shared a distinct vision of being church together.
Renovatus existed first as a couple of
small home prayer meetings in August of 2005.
On Saturday, September 10th, 2005, Renovatus hosted its first core group
worship service in the chapel of
Resurrection Lutheran Church in Charlotte,
where we continued to host Saturday evening services until April of 2006.
We organized officially as a local church in January of 2006
In April of 2006, Renovatus moved to Sunday morning worship services to
its current location of Elizabeth Traditional Elementary School.
In July of 2006, Renovatus opened its office/ministry center on Central Ave.
Renovatus is going public on October 28th, 2007 with 2 worship services at
9 and 11 AM, inviting liars, dreamers and misfits from all over Charlotte.
Those are the facts, but that is not the story.
The story of Renovatus is only one small part of a much
larger story of what God is doing in history, and that broader story is the
one that gives our little one content and meaning.
